Expats & Cross-Cultural

Mental health support for expats and their families

A place where the language, the customs and the people you can lean on are all different.
Counsellors who speak your language are here, online.

Is this for you?

We can help when…

You came as a partner or family member, and there is no one to lean on or talk to
Your family seems fine, but you feel left behind
Neither Japanese nor English quite reaches what you actually feel
You or someone in your family became ill while living abroad
You have returned home, yet something has not come back with you
The cultural gap at work is wearing you down
Where to start

Three ways to start talking

The first 30 minutes are free for all of them. Fees and session length are the same as our regular services —
these are not a separate programme for people abroad. Start with whichever feels right.

Languages

Talk in your own language

We work in Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and Spanish.
The finer feelings are often easier to say in the language you grew up with.

Each counsellor works in different languages. You can filter by language on the counsellor list.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can I use this from outside Japan?

Yes. Everything is online, so you can join from any country. Available times are shown in your own time zone when you book.

I am not ill — can I still talk to someone?

Of course. A diagnosis is not required. "I cannot explain it, but it is hard" is reason enough.

Can I talk about my family?

Yes. We also see family members and those in a supporting role, not only the person concerned.

Are the fees different?

They are the same as our regular services. The first 30 minutes are free.

Start with 30 minutes

You are welcome to simply see what it feels like first.
If it does not suit you, that is perfectly fine.
